Only a few boxing followers gave Sibulele ‘Lova’ Soboois a chance to upstage a vastly experienced Simangele ‘Smash’ Hadebe before their fight at the Silver Lakes Farm Hotel in Pretoria on Saturday evening.

Soboois proved to many fight fans that she had arrived as she was on of her game as she dished out a beautiful performance, which resulted in her dethroning Hadebe to become the new World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa female flyweight champion.

However, the fact that one of the judges gave the fight to Hadebe is rather shocking, especially considering Soboois’ dominance during the duel. With only four fights before meeting Hadebe, Soboois’ performance didn’t show that she’s still wet behind her ears in as far as professional boxing is concerned.

Meanwhile, former South African junior-lightweight champion Sibusiso Zingange defeated Malawian boxer Hannock Phiri via a unanimous decision in the main supporting bout.
