After asking for neutral ring officials and also agreeing to arrive in South Africa three weeks before he faces Siyakholwa Kuse in a crucial rematch, Filipino boxer Melvin ‘El Gringo’ Jerusalem will be out to make sure that he ends the fight inside the distance.
Jerusalem is set to put his World Boxing Council (WBC) minimumweight title on the line when he collides with Kuse at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, on Saturday, 16 May.
Speaking to SunStar Cebu, the 32-year-old Jerusalem said: “We’re improving what we did in the first fight. I’ll do my best, put on a good show and try to dominate to make sure I win. I’ll try my best to knock him out because that’s the surest way to win there. But our goal is to control the fight and impress the judges.”
Jerusalem will take a record of 25 victories with 12 stoppages and three losses to the Kuse fight. Rated number two by the WBC, Kuse has won nine times with four of those wins coming from knockouts and three defeats.
