Milford FC advanced to the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup following a 3-2 win over Sekhukhune United on penalties at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday evening.

The match was decided on penalties after the two sides had played to a 2-2 draw in two hours of football. Following the win, Milford became the second Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC) side to reach the semi-finals after Casric Stars beat AmaZulu 2-1 earlier. 

Back to the game, with the match only just four minutes old, Milford raced to an early lead through Cheswyn Philander’s goal. 

Lehlohonolo Bradley Mojela equalised for Babina Noko with a header in the 10th minute. This was Mojela’s second goal in two Nedbank Cup matches.

With the match having gone to extra time Olerato Mandi put Babina Noko ahead for the first time in the 107th minute. Milford put up a brave fight and their efforts were rewarded with Sibulele Mekuto’s equaliser five minutes before the end of extra time.
