Casric Stars continued with their giant-killing act as they reached the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup for the first time after they beat AmaZulu 2-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday evening.
The Believers shocked Usuthu when they took an early lead through Mfundo Thikazi from Lelethu Skelem’s assist in the 12th minute. The Mpumalanga-based visitors led 1-0 at half-time.
Usuthu came back from the break with more purpose and it was no surprise when Athini Maqokolo set up Pule Ekstein to slot home three minutes into the second stanza.
The match went into extra time and the Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC) side clinched victory through Decide Chauke’s 116th minute goal following Lifa Makua’s assist.
