As Nomandithini Ndyambo gets another opportunity to become a South African female champion yet again, her trainer Monde Banjwa is going to have a hectic weekend as he will be guiding two boxers to battle in different provinces in a space of 24 hours.
Banjwa will be in Ndyambo’s corner when she trades blows with Nobengazi Booth from Mooi River, KwaZulu-Natal, in a vacant SA female junior-middleweight title contest at the Scenery Park Hall in KuGompo City on Sunday, 29 March.
Before manning Ndyambo’s corner, Banjwa will usher Azasakhe Jamani into war when she fights against Zimbawean Patience Mastara in a junior-lightweight bout over eight rounds in Kimberley next Saturday.
“It’s gonna a hectic weekend for me. My boxer Azasakhe Jamani is fighting in Kimberley next Saturday and I have Ndyambo fighting in Scenery Park the following day. I will have to drive tthrough the night so that I could be in Ndyambo’s corner next Sunday,” Banjwa said.
Phumlani-born Ndyambo is a former national and World Boxing Federation (WBF) Intercontinental welterweight champion, who outpointed Kholosa Ndobayini at the King Hintsa FET College in March last year.
On the other hand, Booth is fresh from winning the KwaZulu-Natal female junior-middleweight title. She defeated Noxolo Mkhasibe by a 10th round technical knockout in Mooi River two weeks ago.
