Furious boxing action displayed at different venues in six of South Africa’s nine provinces this past weekend brought satisfaction and a smile to Boxing South Africa (BSA) chief executive officer Tsholofelo Lejaka.
Gauteng and the Eastern Cape had two tournaments each with the other shows having been staged at different venues in Kwa-Zulu-Natal, Northern Cape, Mpumalanga and the North West. And this is the first time ever that a record eight tournaments were held in one weekend.
“The past weekend has been one of our most busiest with tournaments in all provinces except only for Free State, Limpopo and Western Cape. This was really a great way to close out the 2025/2026 financial year,” Lejaka remarked.
With the 2025/26 financial year almost over, already the new fiscal is promising as there’s a tournament that’s lined up by Mzi Booi’s Kay B Promotions, which is set for the coming Saturday at the Guild Theatre in KuGompo City.
The tournament is headlined by a World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth Silver junior-lightweight title between Mdantsane knockout specialist Lonwabo Sizani and Errikie Errikie from Walvis Bay in Namibia. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
