This is probably the worst start for Kaizer Chiefs since the inception of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) in 1996 and the situation has to change, fast.
For all the resources they have, Chiefs continue to struggle this season and are in an unfamiliar position on the DStv Premiership table.
Coach Gavin Hunt’s Amakhosi are 14th on the log with seven points from nine matches having scored only seven goals against the 13 they leaked.
And Chiefs get another chance to arrest the slide when they come up against AmaZulu in an away Premiership match at King’s Park in Durban on Wednesday (15h00).
‘‘We are in a battle, our programme is very difficult. We are gonna try to get our league form back. We are gonna get better in the
league,’’ Hunt said.
It looked like Amakhosi’s problems were going to be solved when Serbian Samir Nurkovic returned after he was out for some time due to injury, but things have not changed as yet.
‘‘He’s nowhere near fit, we’ve got to get him fit. There is not much time to train, we’ve got to get him fit,’’ said Hunt.
Meanwhile, Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi hopes Amakhosi will come right against Usuthu.
‘‘I think we have not been coming right with our decisions in games.
Mentally, right now we should be strong going to our next game. We’ve
got quality players to rely upon,’’ said Akpeyi.
‘‘We are taking the pain to AmaZulu, it’s high time to make the fans happy. From the beginning of the season no game has been easy for us.
We wanna do better. AmaZulu game, hopefully, it will be a turn around for us.’’
Chiefs’ growing problems got worse when the club announced that one of their key players Khama Billiat is out for eight weeks after cracking a bone on his left leg.
