Soon after making light work of Tanzanian opponent Kasimu Hamid Haji on Sunday, Ayabonga ‘Jay Jay’ Sonjica declared that it is his handlers who are going to come up with a plan for his future.
Sonjica stopped the Tanzanian in the second round during their vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa junior-featherweight title fight at the Orient Theatre in East London.
“My management team and the promoters are going to decide which way I go. My wish is to go forward, get an opportunity to fight for a bigger title than the one I won,” Sonjica said.
This was the Duncan Village-born boxer’s first fight since he defeated Innocent Mantengu in September 2019.
“I was okay. I didn’t feel any ring rust because I have been working very hard at the gym. I had been sparring all along,” the current South African junior-featherweight champion said.
