Reviving school sport can play a major role in improving the standard of South African football so says SuperSport United assistant coach Thabo September.
The former Matsatsantsa a Pitori captain has added that South Africa has all the resources to make this happen.
‘‘Administration wise it would be nice to have a PSL boss, who is not attached to any club. There should also be synergy between SAFA and the PSL because I believe that could do a lot for South African football,’’ said September.
‘‘We must bring back school football in order to revive the sport in our country. Tournaments that were played at school level helped our football in the past, we need that now.
‘‘We can replicate the good things that these tournaments brought to South African football. I know what I’m talking about becase I played in USSASA games in the past.
‘‘Let us have qualified personnel to take our football forward. The money is there thus we need the right people to advance our football.’’
Meanwhile, Lesotho-born coach Lehlohonolo Seema has found a new home
after he was fired by Chippa United last week.
Seema is now Black Leopards coach Dylan Kerr’s second assistant and will work with Kerr and Morgan Shivambu, the other assistant.
The former Lesotho international got the boot at the Chilli Boys after he had led the Port Elizabeth club to one win, two draws and five losses since the season began in October.
On the other hand, Cape Town-born defender Clayton Daniels has joined struggling Maritzburg United. Daniels was released by Matsatsantsa recently after failing to agree terms with the club.
