The Proteas came good as they whitewashed Sri Lanka 2-0 in the two-match Test series.

This followed after the Proteas beat the Sri Lankans by 10 wickets on the third day of the second Test at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. The Proteas had beaten Sri Lanka by an innings and 45 runs in the first
Test played at Centurion.

Deal Elgar, who was 31 not out in the Proteas’ second innings, deservedly won the man-of-the-match award following a fine performance with the bat in the second Test.  He knocked 127 runs in the first innings.

The Sri Lankans were bowled out for 211 runs in their second innings with Lungisani Ngidi taking four wickets while Lutho Sipamla claimed three and Anrich Nortje took two.

Proteas’ opening batsmen Elgar and Aiden Markram (36) breezed to 67 runs not out giving the South African national team a deserved win.

On the other hand, Ngidi bowled 15 overs with one maiden and leaked 44 runs while Sipamla leaked 40 in 9.5 overs.

Meanwhile, the win has helped the Proteas to move to sixth place from eighth position on the ICC World Test Championship table.
