The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is going to decide on the CAF Confederation Cup match between Nigerian side Rivers United and Bloemfontein Celtic.

This match, which was scheduled to be played in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, on Wednesday, didn’t take place because Celtic decided not to travel to the West African country.

This followed after Nigerian authorities insisted that Celtic would have to be quarantined for seven days and won’t get preferential treatment regarding strict COVID-19 protocols.

Protocol dictates that all visitors to Nigeria from high risk areas will be quarantined for a week upon arrival. South Africa is a high
risk country because of the number of COVID-19 cases.

Phunya Sele Sele through the South African Football Association (SAFA) wrote to both the Nigerian Football Federation and the Nigerian government requesting for the requirement to be waivered.

The Nigerian government turned down the request something which forced SAFA to petition CAF. The African football controlling body promised to look into the matter.
