Struggling Chippa United earned a valuable point when they held SuperSport United to a 2-2 draw in a DStv Premiership match at the
Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Wednesday evening.
It’s a point, which returnee Chilli Boys coach Daniel ‘Dance’ Malesela would appreciate in his bid to move the Port Elizabeth club
away from the relegation zone.
Andile Mbenyane and Maloisane Mokhele netted for the Chilli Boys with Matsatsantsa’s goals coming from twin strikers Bradley Grobler and Thamsanqa Gabuza.
Matsatsantsa had a storming start to the match launching attack after attack, but the Chilli Boys defence resisted their forays into their half.
However, it was the Chilli boys, who scored through Mbenyane in the 38th minute. The Chilli Boys’ longest serving player netted after Matsatsantsa goalkeeper Ronwen Williams had spilled the ball on his way.
Matsatsantsa started the second stanza in the same way they did in the first half and their forays into the Chilli Boys territory were rewarded with a goal from Grobler in the 49th minute. This was Grobler’s eighth goal of the season.
Gabuza gave Matsatsantsa a lead in the 83rd minute, but Mokhele cancelled it four minutes later.
Coach Kaitano Tembo’s Matsatsantsa remained third on the Premiership table with the Chilli Boys being stuck on 14th spot.
Next up for the Chilli Boys is an away clash against Lamontville Golden Arrows in Durban on Saturday while Matsatsantsa will face TS Galaxy in Nelspruit on the same day.
