Stellenbosch FC and Black Leopards drew 1-1 at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch on Friday evening.
This was one match that Lidoda Duvha should have won easily in their quest to move up the Premiership log. However, it was never to be as they missed a number of clear goal scoring opportunities with their
striker and captain Rodney Ramagalela being the main culprit.
Lidoda Duvha were the first to score through Ovidy Karuru, who converted a penalty in the 30th minute. This was Karuru’s third goal this season.
The penalty came after Stellies defender Kristopher Bergman had fouled Karuru inside the box.
Coach Dylan Kerr’s Lidoda Duvha hung on to their slender lead until the Cape Winelands club equalised through Phathutshedzo Nange in the 53rd minute.
Stellies, who are coached by Steve Barker, remain in seventh spot on the Premiership standings after collecting 13 points following three wins, four draws and three losses.
On the other hand, Lidoda Duvha are still stuck at the bottom of the Premiership table with six points from nine matches. They have only won one match, drawn three and lost five.
Stellies are going to play against Bloemfontein Celtic in Mangaung on
Saturday, 16 January while Leopards will welcome Orlando Pirates at the Thohoyandou Stadium the following day.
