Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila coach Joel Masutha feared the worst when Cape Town City raced to a 2-0 lead against his side in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday evening.
Fagrie Lakay scored a brace for the Citizens and it looked like the Capetonians were going to add more goals something which scared Masutha thinking that they were going to lose by a big margin.
However, it was never to be as things changed for the better for Vhadau Vha Damani after Meshack Maphangule had pulled one back for them. The goal spurred them on and they equalised through Thembisani Nevhulamba in the second half to end the match 2-2.
‘‘I can say it was a game of two halves. You know we started very flat in the first half. We were very sluggish. Their first goal was a
give-away. While we were still in shock they scored their second one and it looked like it was gonna be a cricket score the way we were playing,’’ Masutha said.
‘‘After 30 minutes we regrouped and started to play our way. And fortunately we scored one goal, that gave us a boost. In the second
half we changed the tactics a little bit, we changed personnel a little bit. We were a better team until we equalised. The fighting
spirIt, never-say-die attitude the boys showed was impressive. I think it’s going to give us a boost for the midweek match.’’
Vhadau Vha Damani, who are 10th on the Premiership standings, are going to host Orlando Pirates at the Thohoyandou Stadium in their next match on Wednesday.
