It has taken Kaizer Chiefs almost three months to win their second match of the season as they beat AmaZulu 1-0 in a DStv Premiership encounter at the King’s Park Stadium in Durban on Wednesday afternoon.

Serbian Samir Nurković scored the only goal of the match as he netted his first league strike this season. This was also Nurković’s first start of the current term.

The 28-year-old Nurkovic scored 13 goals from 26 matches last season having started 25 of those games.

Chiefs registered their first win when they beat Chippa United 1-0 through Gregory Damons’ own goal at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on the 27th of October 2020.

Amakhosi won 2-0 with goals from Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro in a corresponding fixture against Usuthu at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu last season.

Wednesday’s win took Chiefs from 14th to 10th spot on the Premiership table with 10 points from the same number of games. Amakhosi have now scored eight goals and conceded 13.

On the other hand, Usuthu occupy ninth position on the standings with 10 points from 10 matches.

Chiefs are going to travel to Cape Town Stadium to face Cape Town City at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday while Usuthu have a date with Maritzburg United in a KwaZulu-Natal derby at King’s Park on Sunday.
