Proponent of beautiful football and Chippa United coach Daniel ‘Dance’ Malesela reckons that playing good soccer without discipline is a futile exercise.
Malesela wants the struggling Chilli Boys to play beautiful football and bring results when they face TS Galaxy in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit, on Saturday (15h30).
‘‘The biggest killer is that a lot of our teams are not disciplined. A lot of teams win because they are disciplined, they don’t win because they play wonderful football,’’ Malesela said.
‘‘We work too hard to regain the ball, if you throw it away for me it almost becomes criminal. We are prepared for anything. If we have an upper hand over the opponents, then our team will get better.’’
Malesela will be coming face-to-face with the Rockets for the first time since club owner Tim Sukazi fired him in December following a spate of poor results.
And this is the third game that Malesela will be in charge of the Chilli Boys since returning to the Port Elizabeth club just after the festive season. The Chilli Boys drew 2-2 with SuperSport United in Malesela’s first match and then lost 1-0 to Lamontville Golden Arrows.
‘‘Those were almost two similar fixtures of teams that have been doing well in the league though different in terms of playing style. SuperSport have been winning, Arrows have not lost a match. SuperSport are more direct, Arrows are playing like us. To sum it up, I think we handled ourselves well in the two matches. It’s just the mistake we made against Arrows. Had we not made that mistake we would have come back with a point, maybe a clean sheet as well,’’ said Malesela.
‘‘You can take confidence from the two matches. These are teams that have been beating other teams. One of the worse things you can have is the fear of losing than the confidence of winning. That belittles you, we don’t want our players to feel small. Slowly, slowly we will get it right and start playing constructive and goal orientated football.’’
Saturday’s match offers the Chilli Boys a chance to win their first match since their 3-1 victory over Maritzburg United on 3 November.
After meeting the Rockets, the Chilli Boys will play against Swallows FC at the Dobsonville Stadium next Wednesday.
