Struggling Chippa United have beefed up their squad with the signing of former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Anthony Laffor and defender-cum-midfielder Ayabonga Konqobe.
The two players, who signed until the end of this season, are available for Saturday’s DStv Premiership encounter against TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit (15h30).
Laffor was released by Sundowns after serving the Tshwane giants with aplomb. The 35-year-old Liberian won many trophies at the Brazilians including the CAF Champions League in 2016.
On the other hand, the 23-year-old Konqobe joins the Chilli Boys for his second spell. Konqobe is a former national Under-20 captain.
‘‘I am thrilled to have the experience of both Anthony and Ayabulela to bolster our squad. We welcome them both to the Chilli Boys family,’’ Chilli Boys coach Daniel ‘Dance’ Malesela said.
Meanwhile, the Chilli Boys have announced that their two goalkeepers Ismail Watenga and Mlungisi Mazibuko as well as assistant coach Siya Gwambi have recovered from COVID-19.
Watenga and Mazibuko missed the Chilli Boys’ last two matches against SuperSport United and Lamontville Golden Arrows.
