Swallows FC’s impressive start to the 2020/21 season continued when they beat Baroka FC 1-0 in a DStv Premiership fixture at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday evening.
Ruzaigh Gamildien, formerly with Chippa United, was once again on the score sheet giving the Dube Birds their seventh win of the season.
As a result of the win, the Birds moved one place from third to second on the Premiership standings with 25 points from 11 matches. Swallows’ other four matches ended in draws.
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs won their third match of the season when they beat Cape Town City 2-1 at the Cape Town Stadium.
Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Happy Mashiane scored for Amakhosi while Fagrie Lakay netted for the Citizens.
All Chiefs’ three wins this season were achieved on the road having beaten Chippa United and AmaZulu before the Citizens match.
