It has been a brilliant start to the 2020/21 season for Swallows FC as they go about doing the business and proving many football fundis wrong by continuing to impress in the DStv Premiership just a few months after getting automatic promotion from the GladAfrica Championship.
It’s all thanks to the brilliance of the Dube Birds coach Brandon Truter, who has done a wonderful job since joining the Soweto giants when they were still campaigning in the GladAfrica Championship. And Truter insists that there is still some work that needs to be done at the Birds.
Truter led Swallows to a 1-0 win over Baroka FC in a DStv Premiership match played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday afternoon.
‘‘Tricky game, tough game as well. We played against a counter-attacking team,’’ he said referring to the Bakgaga match.
‘‘I don’t think Baroka had a shot at goal, maybe towards the end when they put us under pressure. We weren’t as ruthless as we always are. It took a penalty to get the three points. I’m happy for the three points and looking forward to the next game.’’
Swallows have collected 25 points from seven wins and four draws since the season began in October.
The Mitchell’s Plain-born Truter is going to lead the high-flying Dube Birds, who have not lost a match since March 2020, when they host Chippa United at the Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday (17h00).
