One of the most charismatic and recognisable football personalities South Africa has ever produced Abdul Bhamjee has died.

The former public relations officer of the National Soccer League (NSL) passed away early on Tuesday morning.

He was so good in his job in so much that he was once described as someone, who could sell eggs to chickens.

Bhamjee, who inspired the construction of FNB Stadium in Nasrec in the 1980s, was credited for bringing huge crowds to stadiums whenever football matches were played.
