The sweet taste of victory and a burning desire to consistently be on the winning side have propelled AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy to chase his third straight win when Usuthu face Bloemfontein Celtic in a DStv Premiership match at King’s Park in Durban on Tuesday (15h00).
Usuthu go into battle with Phunya Sele Sele following wins over Baroka FC (2-0) and Stellenbosch FC (2-1).
“It has been difficult, I had to give the boys some days off after our Stellenbosch game. There was just a lot of heavy legs. When the schedule is so big, so hectic, you have to try and manage the situation better,” McCarthy said after returning to training on Monday.
“Everyone looks in good spirit. There is still some worrying with so many games, with so little time for recovery. You don’t want to lose players to long term injuries.”
Meanwhile, the former Cape Town City mentor has revealed that they are going to make changes when they clash with Celtic.
“It’s a game we are gonna make changes. Hopefully, it won’t cost the team valuable three points,” McCarthy said.
“At home we are beginning to find our feet. We are just hoping we’ve got another opportunity to play the Celtic side, they are dangerous. They got some very good players. They are a very offensive team, so we are. Hopefully, when we have another opportunity we will have our scoring boots.”
Usuthu and Celtic drew 1-1 in a first round match played at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium, Mangaung, in January.
