Asian Fight Scene has reported that World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight champion Nordine Oubaali is going to defend his belt against Thai boxer Nawaphon Kaikanha in Paris, France, on Saturday, 13 March.
Initially, it was said that the Frenchman of Moroccan descent was going to defend against South Africa’s Yanga Sigqibo. However, things changed last week when news filtered in saying that the WBC had ordered a mandatory defence against Filipino boxer Nonito Donaire.
This is the second time that Kaikanha, who is rated second by the WBC, gets a crack at a world title.
He suffered a technical knockout loss to Mexican boxer Juan Hernandez Navarrete when they fought for the then vacant WBC flyweight belt at the National Stadium Gymnasium in Thailand in 2017.
