Lamontville Golden Arrows coach Mandla Ncikazi advised Pule Mmodi to continue shooting at goals even if he consistently missed the target.
That advice during Arrows’ team talk before meeting Orlando Pirates at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont was enough motivation for Mmodi, who scored a brace to help Abafana Bes’thende beat Pirates 2-0 in a DStv Premiership fixture on Tuesday evening.
“I told Pule that if you don’t play Lotto you can’t win it. Today it worked for him. I’m very proud of the young man,” Ncikazi said.
Coming to the game, Ncikazi reckons that everything worked well for Arrows.
“It’s one of those games where I thought we were almost perfect in a lot of departments. I thought we adapted well to their two number 10s. We adapted well on the ball. And I thought we had the ability to come out cleanly even second half they had possession, but I thought we created better chances even before we scored,” Ncikazi said.
“Just I’m proud the team keeps on moving forward. We are just still within our target. We don’t want to punch above our weight. I’m just proud to be the coach of such a team.”
