Swallows FC coach Brandon Truter has admitted that Cape United offered some resistance during their 1-0 win in a Nedbank Cup first round match at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Sunday.
Despite that, Truter is relieved the Dube Birds are to be among the 16 teams going to the draw on Monday. Kamohelo Mahlatsi scored Swallows’ winning goal taking the Dube Birds to the last 16 of the competition.
“It was a tough game. It wasn’t gonna be easy. We knew it was gonna be tricky. I’m so happy with the first half performance. We were dominant, but I think decision making in the final third let us down,” Truter said.
“We came out in the second half, they were a bit brave. It’s difficult playing against counter attacking team. We managed to score, it’s a cup game, so we are through to the next round.”
On the other hand, Cape United coach Roger de Sa said that he expected a tough game against Swallows.
“It was difficult to play away from home. We knew it was going to be difficult. I saw Swallows beating bigger and better teams. We had a good structure, we had a good game plan. I think we just lost with individual experience,” De Sa said.
