Chippa United coach Dan Malesela still believes that Cape Town City are strong opponents despite beating them 2-1 in a Nedbank Cup second round fixture on Sunday.
As if they can’t get enough of each other, the Chilli Boys and the Citizens are meeting again on Wednesday in a DStv Premiership match this time around.
Mdantsane’s Sisa Dukashe Stadium in East London is going to host this fixture – the first match to be played at the venue this season.
“It’s difficult now to plan against them. Now I have an idea as to what places we need to focus on. It’s going to be a difficult game again. There are areas we have to look at. The marking organisation, retention of the ball, choice of passes and decisions in the last third,” Malesela said.
“They are not an easy team to play against. Us being desperate for points makes it even worse. We have (Sizwe) Mdlinzo out with four yellow cards.”
The Chilli Boys are 12th on the Premiership table with 15 points from 16 games while the Citizens are seventh with 20 points from 17 matches.
Meanwhile, Malesela has insisted that Ugandan goalkeeper Ismail Watenga is still part of his plans as Mlungisi Mazibuko has been deputising first choice goalkeeper Ayanda Mtshali.
“He sustained a groin injury. He was always in the team. He’s in rehab now,” the former TS Galaxy coach said.
