Mamelodi Sundowns’ dominance in Group B of the CAF Champions League continued when they beat TP Mazembe 1-0 from the Democratic Republic of Congo at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Tuesday evening.
Lebohang Maboe netted in the 28th minute to give Sundowns their sixth straight victory over a side from the DRC. The win took the log-leaders to the quarter-finals of the competition with two matches to go.
This victory means that the Brazilians have won all their four Group B matches so far – two wins at home and two away. And as a result, the Tshwane giants have collected 12 points leaving the other three teams in the group eating dust. The Brazilians are now left with matches against Al Hilal in Sudan and CR Belouizdad from Morocco at home.
Meanwhile, another South African club playing in the CAF Champions League Kaizer Chiefs held Petro de Luanda to a goalless draw in a Group C match played at 11de Novembro Stadium in Luanda, Angola.
