Unbeaten East London boxer Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga and his adversary Christian ‘The Bomb’ Araneta from the Philippines will come face to face for the first time on Monday, 19 April.
That’s is going to five days before the two boxers’ slugfest at the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino in Gqeberha on Saturday, 24 April. Nontshinga and Araneta are going to clash in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight elimination bout.
The winner of this bout is going to challenge current IBF junior-flyweight champion Felix Alvarado from Nicaragua.
“We are going to have a media conference on the 19th of April. This is where Nontshinga and Araneta are going to meet for the first time,” Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) chief executive officer Nomfesane Nyatela confirmed.
Nontshinga and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Intercontinental junior-bantamweight champion Yanga ‘Showtime’ Sigqibo and Luyanda Ntwanambe are going to arrive in Gqeberha a week before the tournament while Araneta is landing on Sunday, 11 April as per agreement with RAP.
Sigqibo’s opponent Jerald Paclar from the Philippines and Ghanaian Theophilus Tetteh, who is going to fight against Ayabonga Sonjica in a vacant IBF Africa junior-featherweight title contest, are going to land in Gqeberha on Sunday, 18 April.
Meanwhile, all East London-based RAP boxers will go for COVID-19 tests after the Easter weekend.
