Banyana Banyana have lined up two friendly matches, which they hope to use to prepare for the 2022 CAF African Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers starting later this year.
Coach Desiree Ellis’ Banyana Banyana are going to face Zambia on Saturday, 10 April and Botswana three days later. Both matches are set for Bidvest Stadium in Johannesburg starting at 15h00.
A 26-member Banyana Banyana are going to camp on Easter Monday without some overseas-based players because of COVID-19 restrictions.
“We have a program for the year that we need to stick to, to ensure that we are ready for our qualifiers once the draw comes out. The past year has been very difficult for us with no football permitted to play, but we need to look forward and ensure that we reach our goals,” Ellis said.
SD Eibar duo Thembi Kgatlana and Noko Matlou as well as Amanda Mthandi from CD Badajoz are the only three overseas-based players available for this camp. Banyana Banyana have not played a match since November 2020.
