Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt has insisted that Amakhosi deserved to win during their 1-1 drawn DStv Premiership match against Baroka FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Thursday.
Lebo Manyama netted for Amakhosi while Evidence Makgopa replied for Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele.
Hunt also added that Chiefs deserved a penalty after what seemed to have been a foul on their striker Samir Nurkovic in the first half.
“We deserved to win the game, we were the better team. If we got the penalty in the first half. Two, three games in a row we have not been getting those situations. Over the 90 minutes we were the better team,” Hunt said.
The former Bidvest Wits mentor also insisted that he decided to make substitutions to close some gaps in his team.
“We had to protect certainly wide areas. We had to drop into better areas. We didn’t protect the wide areas. It’s a point moving forward, another game unbeaten,” Hunt said.
Chiefs are going to take a couple of days off before beginning their preparations for their home game against Cape Town City at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec on Wednesday, 21 April while Bakgaga’s next match is away to Chippa United  in Gqeberha the day before.
Meanwhile, Bakgaga coach Matsimela Thoka is satisfied with his boys’ performance and the point they earned.
“We came back strong in the second half. It’s just that we conceded a soft goal. We didn’t defend well in that ball of Manyama. Overall, I’m happy with the performance of the guys, they showed character,” Thoka said.
