Trainer Mzamo ‘Chief’ Njekanye is motivated after his boxer Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile signed a contract to fight against Martin Ward from the United Kingdom (UK).
Fuzile and Ward are going to clash in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-lightweight elimination bout at the Michelob Ultra Arena, Las Vegas, in the United States on 29 May.
The winner of this bout will face whoever wins between Tajikistan boxer Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov and Kenichi Ogawa from Japan. The two boxers are set to clash in July.
“The signing of the contract is very important and it means that the fight is going to happen. This is the kind of motivation we needed as we continue to prepare for this fight,” Njekanye said.
Fuzile’s fight against Ward is on the undercard of World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight champion Devin Haney’s defence against Jorge Linares from Venezuela. Linares, who is based in Tokyo, Japan, once held the WBC title.
This tournament is going to be promoted by Briton Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing.
