Simphiwe ‘Chain Reaction’ Konkco knows what to expect from his Filipino opponent Ariston Aton whom he meets at the Booysens Boxing Gym on Saturday, 22 May.
Konkco, who has not fought since losing to former World Boxing Council minimumweight champion Wanheng Menayothin also known as Chayaphon Moonsri in October 2019, has revealed that he has watched some videos of Aton.
“Everything has gone very well. We are ready for the fight. We have watched some of his videos. He is a fresh and strong boxer, a typical Filipino,” Konkco said.
This fight is going to give Tsolo-born Konkco an opportunity to shake off ring rust. Konkco is a former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) strawweight champion whose record reads 19 wins with seven stoppages and six losses while Aton has nine victories with five knockouts and three defeats.
Meanwhile, five-time world champion Hekkie ‘Hexecutioner’ Budler faces Jonathan Almacen from the Philippines in the main bout.
