Eastern Cape boxing trainer Mzamo ‘Chief’ Njekanye is grateful to Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) chairman Teris Ntutu for all the efforts he’s making to ensure that he gets a visa to travel to the United States.
Ntutu has been working around the clock helping Njekanye and his assistant Yanga Gingxana get American visas so that they can travel with Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile to the US.
Fuzile is set to fight against British boxer Martin Ward in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-lightweight elimination bout at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, 29 May.
The winner of this fight is going to face whoever wins between Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov from Tajikistan and Japanese boxer Kenichi Ogawa. Rakhimov and Ogawa are going to clash in July.
“The promotions led by Teris Ntutu is the best. They are doing their utmost best to make sure that we travel to America. It’s good to have someone like Teris Ntutu and we are thankful for everything he’s doing for us,” Njekanye said.
“This COVID-19 has messed us up in as far as the fight is concerned. We are busy going up and down trying to secure the visas. We remain hopeful that we will finally get them.”
Meanwhile, the office of the Premier in the Eastern Cape has entered the fray trying to intervene on behalf of Njekanye and Gingxana. However, their efforts have not yielded any fruits so far.
“We are helping his team. There is no progress yet,” Mvusiwekhaya Sicwetsha, Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane’s spokesperson, said.
