Having been bundled out of the CAF Champions League by Egyptian side Al Ahly last Saturday, Mamelodi Sundowns have now switched their focus to the DStv Premiership.
The Brazilians, who top the Premiership standings with 57 points from 26 matches, face Tshwane rivals SuperSport United at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Wednesday (17h00).
A win over Matsatsantsa a Pitori will hand Sundowns the championship trophy with three games to spare.
“Focus is now on the next assignment, which is to play our game against SuperSport. And you could even see from training the intensity was good. Everybody is looking forward to give this match a fight and we know Sundowns doesn’t want to lose two matches in a row,” Mngqithi said.
“For us, it’s always important to focus on our process. And according to our process, this is the second match of the last cycle of five games. And we have won the first one, so all our attention is on trying to make sure we achieve our desired targets in the last four matches.”
The former Lamontville Golden Arrows coach added that they are not going to put their players under pressure going to the Matsatsantsa match.
“It just happens that SuperSport can decide the championship, but the intention is to try and get the number of points we have targeted. As it is now, we are short of nine points in the cycle. We are not putting pressure on players to look as this game as a title decider,” he said.
