COVID-19 continues to rock the Bafana Bafana camp as assistant coach Cedomir Janevski has tested positive.
This comes just a few days after Percy Tau and Teboho Mokoena were withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana squad after they tested positive for COVID-19. Sipho Mbule was also released from the Bafana Bafana camp as he was Mokoena’s contact.
All members – players and technical staff – were tested on Tuesday with 59-year-old Janevski being the only one whose results came back positive.
“We continue to check for clinical symptoms and encourage the staff to wear masks without failure, practise social distance and everyone is accommodated separately,” Bafana Bafana team medic Dr Tshepo Moloi said.
Bafana Bafana are in camp preparing for Thursday’s international friendly match against Uganda at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana’s local assistant Helman Mkhalele has challenged his players ahead of the match.
“The first victory is in the mind. With a positive attitude, normally the rest will fall into place. Have a right mental attitude, communicate with your teammates more often and above all, believe,” Mkhalele said.
“Not everyone has an opportunity to represent one’s country and when the opportunity avails itself, grab it with both hands and make yourself, your family and the country proud.”
