Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams has admitted that the road ahead is not going to be easy.
The SuperSport United skipper is going to lead Bafana Bafana when they come up against Uganda in an international friendly match at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Thursday (18h00).
“Obviously, you can see that we have assembled a fairly new team. Quite a lot of new faces,” Gqeberha-born Williams, who has 18 Bafana Bafana caps, said.
“I’m just happy to be part of the team again. It’s a new challenge. It’s not going to be easy, it’s a new team. The guys are ready, we have done a lot of work in a short space of time.”
Bafana Bafana are going to be coached by Helman Mkhalele in the absence of their coach Hugo Broos, who is back home in Belgium for a second jab of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Mkhalele was due to co-coach Bafana Bafana together with Cedomir Janevski. But Janevski tested positive to COVID-19 on Tuesday.
“We are ready to take on the challenge. We are ready for the game,” Mkhalele, who is a former Bafana Bafana midfielder, said.
