Banyana Banyana’s preparations for their international friendly match against the Netherlands began in Johannesburg on Monday.
Coach Desiree Ellis’ Banyana Banyana face the Dutch national women’s team in Zwolle on Saturday, 3 July.
This match is part of Banyana Banyana’s preparations for the African Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers, which start later this year.
“We are very much grateful that we are playing a top country like the Netherlands whom we last played in 2019. They are currently ranked number three in the world and are perhaps one of the favourites for the Olympics,” Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis said.
Banyana Banyana will go to the Netherlands friendly match on the back of wins over Zambia and Botswana earlier this year.
“Also we are preparing our AWCON qualifier later this year. So this not only gives us an opportunity to test ourselves but also to take our preparations to another level following victories over Zambia and Botswana in March this year,” Ellis said.
