TLB Promotions will commemorate June 16 with a boxing tournament, which is going to take place at the DOCC in Orlando East, Soweto, this coming Saturday.
This tournament is headlined by a 10 rounds international junior-welterweight bout between Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni and Peter ‘Sniper’ Pambeni from Zimbabwe.
“The tournament we are actually commemorating 45 years of where we all know what happened in 1976 in Soweto June 16. As TLB Promotions, we felt that we should do something to show that we appreciate all those who were killed and those who suffered,” TLB Promotions boss Joyce Kungwane said.
A TLB Promotions tournament is incomplete without a bout featuring female boxers and this one is no different to tournaments staged by the Gauteng-based promotional outfit.
The only female bout of the tournament sees Bonita van Jaarsveldt from Gauteng squaring up against Free State’s Matshidiso Mokebisi in a lightweight fight over six rounds.
“We will be having Bonita van Jaarseveldt fighting Matshidiso Mokebisi. It’s gonna be a beautiful one. When it comes to females I’m jealous even if I’m not able to put more than one, at least something is there,” Kungwane said.
