Minister of Sport Nathi Mthethwa has applauded Bafana Bafana after they won the 2021 edition of the COSAFA Cup tournament.
Bafana beat Senegal 5-4 on penalties after their match had ended goalless in 120 minutes at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Sunday.
This was the fifth time Bafana annexed the COSAFA Cup trophy having last won it in 2016.
“This weekend’s tale of South African soccer good news was crowned by our national team Bafana Bafana lifting the 2021 COSAFA Cup. Well done to our team. From here, let’s go and make our mark in the continent and the world,” Mthethwa said on Monday.
Mthethwa also applauded Kaizer Chiefs for reaching the final of CAF Champions League. Amakhosi received a 3-0 hiding from Egyptian giants Al Ahly at Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca, Morocco, on Saturday.
