Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) boss Teris Ntutu has revealed that they are monitoring South Africa’s COVID-19 vaccination process with keen interest.
And Ntutu has added that staging their next tournament will depend solely on the success of the South African government’s vaccination process.
“There are many challenges relating to COVID. You organise a tournament then boxers test positive after you have spent money on international referees. Remember, we do more international fights. Hopefully, with the rate of vaccinating people here in South Africa things might get back to normal so that we can start staging tournaments again,” Ntutu said.
Meanwhile, Ntutu has revealed that Athenkosi Thongwana is set to challenge SA mini-flyweight champion Bangile Nyangani.
Mthatha-born Nyangani annexed the national title when he outpointed Siyakholwa Kuse earlier in July.
“Remember, Thongwana was approved to challenge Kuse. But the fight didn’t happen because Nyangani complained and then got a chance to fight against Kuse. Now Nyangani is going to defend against Thongwana,” Ntutu said.
