South African athletes Phathutshedzo Maswanganyi and Anaso Jobodwana powered to the 200-metre semi-finals at the Tokyo Olympics in Japan early on Tuesday.
Maswanganyi came second behind Trinidadian Jereem Richards in heat 2 while Jobodwana finished third after Jamaican Rasheed Dwyer and second-placed Divine Oduduru from Nigeria in heat 1. 
Maswanganyi, 20, finished in 20.58 seconds and the 29-year-old Jobodwana, a finalist at the London Olympics in 2012, clocked 20.78secs.
Meanwhile, Clarence Munyai also qualified for the semi-finals after finishing fourth in heat 7. 
The 23-year-old SA 200m record holder finished with the best time of 20.49secs.
The three 200m semi-finals are scheduled for 13h50 on Tuesday.
