At least 10 clubs out of 54 sides have been excluded from taking part in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
Reigning champions Al Ahly, Mamelodi Sundowns, Zamalek, Esperance, Etoile du Sahel, Wydad Athletic Club, Raja Club Athletic, TP Mazembe, Horoya Athletic Club and Simba SC are not going to play in the preliminary round, which starts on 10 September.
The draw for both the Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup is going to take place in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday.
South Africa’s representatives in the Champions League are Sundowns and AmaZulu while Marumo Gallants and Orlando Pirates are going to play in the 51-team Confederation Cup.
The 12 best-placed national associations in CAF rankings have been authorised to enter two clubs in each competition.
The countries are South Africa, Algeria, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Guinea, Morocco, Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia and Zambia.
