Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has revealed why Percy Tau moved to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Tau joined the African Club of the Century on a four-year contract from Brighton on Thursday.
The 27-year-old Tau has reunited with Pitso Mosimane, his former coach at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Speaking to the Brighton & Hove Independent, Potter said: “I have really enjoyed working with Percy. He is very professional and extremely popular with the rest of the squad, but at this stage of his career he wants to be playing regularly and we fully understand that. This move gives him the opportunity to do that and he is joining one of Africa’s top clubs.”
The former Sundowns attacking midfielder only made six appearances for Brighton after joining them from Sundowns on a four-year contract in 2018. The English club kept loaning him out until they called him back last season.
