Mdantsane boxer Asanda Gingqi and his opponent Abdul-Aziz Kunert from Cape Town have been talking non-stop since they were ordered to square up against each other.
Now is the time for the two boxers to walk the talk and show boxing lovers why they should be taken seriously in the fistic sport as they clash in a vacant South African featherweight title fight at the Booysens Boxing Gym in Johannesburg on Sunday afternoon.
Both unbeaten boxers have, in the past few weeks, promised to flatten each other. Gingqi goes into Sunday’s clash boasting five knockouts in six wins while Kunert has stopped two of his 10 victims.
Meanwhile, Siseko ‘Majayivana’ Makeleni from Mthatha is going to challenge current SA junior-welterweight champion Prince Dlomo in the main bout.
Makeleni has vowed to avenge Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni and Xolani ‘Tiger’ Mcotheli’s defeats. Pietermaritzburg-born Dlomo shocked Ndongeni with a sixth round stoppage in October last year and then went on to dethrone Mcotheli in March.
