Sibusiso Zingange’s handlers are going to make a second attempt and lodge a challenge against South African junior-lightweight champion Phila Mpontshane.

Initially, Zingange’s challenge to Mpontshane was rejected by Boxing South Africa (BSA) in August because he had lost his last two fights at the time. Zingange had suffered losses to Tanzanian Class Mgender and Albert Batyrgaziev from Russia.

“We will send a challenge form to Boxing South Africa. Remember, our first challenge was rejected because Zingange had lost his last two fights. We plan to have this fight around December and Bonglez Boxing Promotion will stage it,” Immanuel Mutavhatsindi, an adviser to Bonglez Boxing Promotion, said.

Zingange now qualifies to challenge Mpontshane after he defeated Anthony Maloisane at the Booysens Boxing Gym in Johannesburg last month.

On the other hand, Mpontshane last fought when he lost to Khanyile Bulana in September 2019.

Meanwhile, Bonglez Boxing Promotion and Mpontshane had already agreed on a purse before BSA rejected Zingange’s challenge.
