TRIO SPEAKS AFTER HELPING BAFANA
It was a nice feeling for the three players who netted for Bafana Bafana when they beat Ethiopia 3-1 in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Saturday.
It is understandable that Teboho Mokoena, Mothobi Mvala and Evidence Makgopa are happy.
“We knew where their weakest links are. When l stepped up for the free kick, I knew what l was doing,” Mokoena said.
“I have been waiting for that moment. I wanted to score for the national team and when the ball went in, I finally made it. I’m hungry for more.”
Mvala, on the other hand, admitted that the Ethiopians were tough opponents.
“I think the game was very tough. Ethiopia is a very good team. They were playing us, especially in the middle of the park, they were giving us problems,” Mvala said.
Meanwhile, Makgopa said that he read the match situation while he was on the bench.
“When I was on the bench, I could analyse which one of the centre backs I could go to. So, I was lucky enough when I got into the pitch I found myself in the right place at the right time,” Makgopa said.
