One would expect Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis to be content with her team, especially after a 7-0 first leg win over Mozambique.
Not so as Ellis wants to see an improved performance when Banyana Banyana meet the Mozambicans in the second leg of an African Women’s Cup of Nations qualifier at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Tuesday.
“We had a couple of really good training sessions. The players are all excited to be playing at FNB Stadium. We will not underestimate an opponent even if we won 7-0 away from home,” Ellis remarked.
The Cape Town-born coach has insisted that her team must improve certain aspects of their game.
“There are things we still need to do better. We need to consistently keep improving, move the ball quicker and make sure that we minimise our mistakes. Also make sure we keep a clean sheet. We have to be consistent in that because that gives us a lot of momentum,” she said.
