Rofhiwa ‘War Child’ Maemu would love to win fights regularly, however, he’s not overly concerned about losing as long as his bank balance gets healthier.
Already, Maemu has fought in Russia five times this year, losing all the fights. And he’s leaving for Russia yet again where he’s going to meet Armenian Vaghinak Tamrazyan on Saturday, 6 November.
“I was not fortunate like the other people who went to university. Boxing pays my bills. We have to make money for our families. We are in this boxing for our families,” Maemu, who lost to Russian Shakhabas Makhmudov last month, said.
The 30-year-old Maemu is leaving for Russia on Saturday to prepare for his fight against 36-year-old Tamrazyan at the USC Soviet Wings in Moscow next week.
“I’m sure you understand that not every boxer is an Azinga Fuzile. I have three kids, two girls and a boy, and I have to take care of them,” Maemu said.
“Other people are earning their salaries while we as boxers are not getting fights. I go fight in Russia and they love me there because I always give them war. It’s just unfortunate that I end up losing my fights.”
