Pitso Mosimane was in his element after leading Al Ahly to a 5-3 win over archrivals Zamalek in an Egyptian Premier League match at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday evening.
The Red Devils’ strikes came from an own by Zamalek goalkeeper Abou Gabal, Ali Maaloul’s brace, Mohamed Sherif and Aliou Dieng while Mostafa Fathi, Ahmed Sayed Zizo and Achraf Bencharki netted for the White Knights.
“The good days are back. Maybe next time we will score many goals. We are third in the world, we are African champions, we are Super Cup champions, we are Al Ahly and you saw Al Ahly on the pitch. Thanks to the supporters. They gave us a little bit of energy,” Mosimane said after the match.
This was the first time since the 2001/2 season that the Red Devils scored five goals against Zamalek. The Red Devils now have nine points after winning their first three matches of the season.
