Plans to prise world title hopeful Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile away from Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) have so far failed.
Fuzile has renewed his contract with the promotional outfit ending a silent war, which has been brewing for weeks. The 25-year-old Fuzile’s deal with RAP was set to expire next month.
Fuzile, who is scheduled to face Japanese boxer Kenichi Ogawa in a vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-lightweight title fight at the Hulu Theatre in Madison Square Garden, New York City, in the United States, on Saturday, 27 November, has been promoted by RAP since his professional debut in December 2014.
“Azinga renewed his contract with Rumble Africa Promotions more than a week ago. He signed a one-year contract. We are aware that there were people who wanted to take him away from Rumble Africa Promotions,” RAP chairman Teris Ntutu said.
Speaking on behalf of the former South African featherweight champion, Fuzile’s trainer Mzamo ‘Chief’ Njekanye confirmed that his boxer tied himself to RAP for another year.
“Yes, the boy has renewed his contract. We renewed because I didn’t want people to say I’m a stumbling block,” Njekanye said.
Meanwhile, Fuzile has finally signed the fight contract after delaying putting pen to paper.
