Komani boxer Sihle Jelwana earned a purse without raising a sweat after his opponent Luyanda Ntwanambe failed to arrive at the Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) weigh-in on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s tournament.
Ntwanambe struggled to make weight and spent Friday night nursing a runny tummy, which forced him not to honour his weigh-in obligations. Strangely, Ntwanambe was within the weight limit at the pre-fight medical midweek.
“He didn’t even go to the weigh-in venue. Ntwanambe had a runny tummy while trying to drop weight on Friday,” RAP chief executive officer and Ntwanambe’s manager Nomfesane Nyatela said.
As a result of Ntwanambe’s no show, Jelwana was the only boxer, who was weighed for the vacant IBF International flyweight title fight. Jelwana made the weight and will return to his Komani home with a smile as he made a lot of money without lifting a finger.
